One of the first things you are told to do when you join your network marketing company is make a list of everyone you know so you can invite them to take a look at your business.
There are 3 groups that your prospects will come under:
- Hot Market – they know you very well on a personal level and may or may not respect you in what you have to say about your network marketing business especially if you’ve been in a few other companies in the past.
- Warm market – people you know, but don’t know you really well on a personal level.
- Cold market – people you don’t know
More than likely a majority of that list will be friends and family.
So what do you do with this new company when you try to approach your friends and family again?
If you are in a company that markets a product, I would focus on just the product especially when those you know don’t see you as a business professional type.
Look at it this way, if you were to open up a restaurant or health food store, wouldn’t you invite everyone you know to come by and eat or purchase some of the products?
It makes more sense to invite and try the products versus saying something like, “Hey come and check out my store and if you like it maybe you can open up one for yourself and you can start making money too!”
Going back to the products, the #1 goal of a new distributor is to get their money back. One of the quickest ways is to sell the product.
Here are two ways you can do this that will work great…and you may not even talk to them if you don’t want to!
The first is a simple conversation face to face or over the phone:
“Hey John, this is Rachel…I just started a new home based business. I am not asking you to join or even to become a customer but I am going to ask you for your help. I would like you to buy a one-month supply of my product, use it and give me your honest feedback which will really help me. It’s $XX including shipping.
If you like it you can become my customer. If you don’t like it you never have to buy again. Can I count on your help?”
Or you can use this approach and don’t even have to talk to them!
Text #1: “Hi John. I just started a business and could really use your help. It’s very simple. Text me back so I can give you the details. Thanks, Rachel.”
Now…only respond back if they respond. Don’t chase them if they don’t!
Text #2: “Thanks for responding. I need 10 trial consumers to give me feedback on my product – a high quality nutritional supplement (or whatever your product is). I would like you to buy a one-month supply and use it every day for 30 days. Your honest feedback can help me market more successfully to others wanting to take care of their health. It’s $XX including shipping. Can I count on you to be one of my 10? Please let me know. Thanks for your time, I really appreciate it. Rachel.”
If they are willing to try it, then you will need to get on the phone and assist them in ordering the product or maybe they will need more information. You can then give them 3rd party information such as a product video or brochure.
